Taken near the end of what turned into a several-hours-long shoot on the grounds of the Rosicrucian museum during the high heat of mid-afternoon. While scanning the surroundings for more subjects for my Leaves Series, a tiny alien dropped in from the sky and made a timely, somewhat incongruous appearance. Thus I was able to quickly compose a photograph which likely will also contribute to another, currently nascent series featuring macro images of insects.

ReplyDeleteWow! this piece is a roller coaster ride of strong lines, drawing the eye inward to the presence in the center; there is a pleasant feeling of 'zooming in' on a small moment, a small slice of business in the life of a wasp.
It is this quality in James' work which arrests. One cannot 'skim' this picture- It wants to be dwelt upon, seen complete; its colors soothe and calm the viewer into a quiet space, with the soft rustle of leaves and small doings.

ReplyDeleteLooks to me like a part of an animated scene-like the little 'Mr.' climbing up the hills (and so is cute, sweet and funny) but developed naturally, only missing are the sound and other affects :D...
